Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack concluded the 2013 season on Tuesday with Fox Rules winning the feature race of the closing day card. Pedro Rodriguez guided the $292,333 earner owned by Langpap Stables to the two and one-quarter length victory.

Frisky Warrior named 2013 Horse of the Year

Frisky Warrior was named 2013 Finger Lakes “Horse of the Year” at the annual Finger Lakes Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association awards dinner on Saturday. The chestnut gelding owned and trained by Ralph D’Alessandro won five of his eight Finger Lakes starts this year.

Local trainer wins Breeders' Cup race

Ria Antonia was awarded the victory in the $2,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies on Saturday to give trainer Jeremiah Englehart his first Breeders’ Cup win. The 32-1 longshot finished second in the rich event at Santa Anita under Javier Castellano, but was placed first after She’s a Tiger was disqualified by a majority stewards ruling.

$12 Million Expansion Opens

Nearly ten months of construction has come to a close on the $12 million expansion of Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack. Late yesterday evening the curtain was raised on the final sections of the 33,000 square foot expansion, marking completion of the most significant project since the addition of gaming in 2004 and officially beginning a new era of entertainment at the facility.

Acquilano saddles 1,500th winner

Trainer James Acquilano notched his 1,500th career win at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack (FLGR) on Tuesday. He reached the milestone when Erica’s Star scored a one and three-quarter length victory in the fourth race under jockey Michael Davila, Jr.

A day of celebration and recognition of area charitable organizations came to a close today at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack (FLGR) with Another Chance Pet Rescue taking the top donation prize of $10,000 in the sixth annual Charity Cup this afternoon. A total of $30,000 was offered by FLGR in support of the participating organizations.

Wired Bryan wins richest race of the meet

FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Wired Bryan was a popular winner of the 51st renewal of the $237,457 New York Breeders’ Futurity on Saturday at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack. The talented colt owned by Anstu Stables took the annual stake for New York-bred 2-year-olds in a six furlong time of 1:10.50.
