FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Love That Jazz scored a one length victory in the $50,000 Ontario County Stakes at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack (FLGR) on Monday. He took the 32nd renewal of the dash for New York-bred 3-year-olds in a six furlong final time of 1:10.42.

The Charlton Baker-trainee seized the early lead of the event with an aggressive ride by jockey Luis Perez. He was erratic in stretch but secured the narrow triumph over Saratoga Giro.

The $183,208 earner owned by Happy Face Racing Stable notched his third victory in his eighth career start and paid $11.20, $4.30 and $3.50. Saratoga Giro was a close second and returned $6.30 and $3.30. Championofthenile was third and paid $2.10.

The Ontario County Stakes is run annually as a preparation race for the New York Derby. 3-year-old New York-breds will again take center stage at FLGR in the $150,000 New York Derby and the $75,000 New York Oaks. The co-features on the July 23 card will each be run at a distance of one mile and one-sixteenth.
