Overcomes early trouble to continue dominance in FLGR sprints
FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Breakin the Fever won the 33nd renewal of the $50,000 George W. Barker Stakes at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack (FLGR) on Monday, June 5. The 5-year-old gelding took the six furlong dash for New York-breds 3-years-old and upward in a final time of 1:11.70.

The 2-time FLGR Horse of the Year was unable to secure his customary spot as pace setter after being forced to steady early. He chased after his rivals and found another gear to rally in the late stages of the sprint to earn the one-half length triumph.

The Debra Breed-trainee achieved the narrow victory under jockey Nazario Alvarado. The bay gelding also won the 2016 running of the annual stake with Alvarado in the saddle.

Breakin the Fever registered his seventeenth victory in his 27th career start and improved his lifetime earnings to a sum of $500,441. He was the public choice in the wagering and paid $3.50, $2.80 and $2.10. Marriedtothemusic finished second and returned $4.70 and $3.30. Fratello Del Nord secured the third position and paid $3.30.
