FARMINGTON, N.Y. – A field of six 3-year-old New York-bred fillies will do battle in the 38th renewal of the $50,000 Niagara Stakes at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack (FLGR) on Monday. The six furlong sprint will be run as the seventh race on the card.
Stonesintheroad is listed as the morning line favorite for the annual stake. The 9-5 program choice has made a sum of $136,700 in purse earnings in five starts.
Stonesintheroad made frequent visits to the winners circle early in her career.  The Jeremiah Englehart-trainee won her first three races at Aqueduct including the $100,000 Franklin Square stakes on February 23. She then finished third in the Cicada stakes not restricted to New York-breds
Rajiv Maraugh will be in the irons of the chestnut filly in the Monday feature. Maragh has been aboard for all five of her lifetime starts.
Cartwheelin Lulu will return to FLGR for her initial start of 2019.  The former stablemate of Stonesintheroad dominated a maiden field at FLGR in her first competitive race on August 16, 2018.
The Linda Rice-trainee, listed as the 5-2 second choice, will be ridden by Jaime Rodriguez in the seventh race.
Post time for the first race on Monday at FLGR is scheduled for 1:10 pm.
