FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack (FLGR) received acceptance into the leadership tier of New York Environmental Leaders (NYEL) earlier this month. This state-wide recognition program, led by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, was earned through an intensive application and review process that focused on FLGR environmental practices and accomplishments.

FLGR has long been a participant in GreenPath®, a proprietary environmental management system created and implemented by parent company Delaware North. This initiative is the first environmental management system created by a U.S. hospitality company to be registered to the standards outlined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 14001). GreenPath focuses on continual improvement in environmental performance and reduction of the environmental footprint within Delaware North’s global operations.

“We are extremely proud of this accomplishment and believe it speaks to our environmental commitment to our guests and our community,” said Tony DeFranco, Delaware North’s environmental manager at FLGR.
Only nine organizations in New York State were accepted into NYEL this year, including four sites at which Delaware North has operations. Membership entitles organizations to resources, contacts and recognitions exclusive to the NYEL program.
Delaware North’s acceptance into the New York Environmental Leaders also includes its operations at Hamburg Gaming (Hamburg, N.Y.), Niagara Falls State Park (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) and Gideon Putnam Resort (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.).
