Finger Lakes H.B.P.A. presents awards at annual dinner Saturday night
FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Frisky Warrior was named 2013 Finger Lakes “Horse of the Year” at the annual Finger Lakes Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association awards dinner on Saturday. The chestnut gelding owned and trained by Ralph D’Alessandro won five of his eight Finger Lakes starts this year.
Frisky Warrior achieved all five of his 2013 victories under the guidance of leading jockey Jaime Rodriguez. He surpassed the $200,000 mark in lifetime earnings after winning his most recent start on October 24.
The 4-year-old New York-bred by Desert Warrior is the only active foal out of Let’s Roll Lady.  He has earned nine of his eleven career triumphs at Finger Lakes.
Frisky Warrior received a total of two awards for his achievements this season. He also took the honor for Best Older Male.
Also on Saturday, Dr. Ramon Umana was officially inducted into the Finger Lakes Hall of Fame. He received the honor for his 36 years of professional service. Umana held the position of track veterinarian at Finger Lakes from 1964 through 2000.
