FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Finger Lakes Casino & Racetrack (FLCR) was recently recognized as Employer of the Year by Wayne ARC, the Wayne County chapter of NYSARC located in Newark, NY.  The award, presented at their recent Annual Meeting, recognizes employers that demonstrate a commitment to the success of individuals from Wayne ARC.

Wayne ARC, a non-profit organization, serves individuals of all ages, with or without special needs. The organization assists individuals in finding their full, independent and productive place in society through various services. FLCR has been collaborating with Wayne ARC over the past three years to employ individuals in several different areas of the operation.

“Finger Lakes Casino & Racetrack is an organization and a community resource that believes their employees are their greatest asset. This organization is constantly thinking about job creation for people with disabilities and they understand that by empowering people with disabilities they are helping to build a better community,” stated Tony DeStefano, Wayne ARC Job Developer.

With a staff of over 500 employees between the casino and horse racing operations, FLCR employs a diverse group of individuals with a wide array of skill sets. With a current $12 million expansion in the works, FLCR will be adding an additional 75 employees later this fall.

“We are thrilled to have received this honor and thank everyone at Wayne ARC for the work they do,” stated Chris Riegle, president and general manager of FLCR. “Partnerships with organizations like Wayne ARC allow us to strengthen our commitment to the local community far beyond the numbers of jobs created and financial impacts. Together we are positively enriching the lives of those living in our community.”

“We have been very pleased with the results of our partnership with Wayne ARC,” stated Julie Roloson, director of human resources at FLCR. “There are continually openings for various positions within our facility and this partnership is a valuable recruitment tool.”

FLCR joins several other local companies in receipt of the award. Goodwill of the Finger Lakes received the honor in 2012, while Alpco Recycling, Inc. was honored in 2011.  Wayne ARC has recognized companies with the award for nearly 10 years. Organizations are nominated by Wayne ARC employees, with a committee reviewing the nominations and making the final selection.
