Eventful start to Finger Lakes Celebration of 50 years of Racing

Jockey Dennis Carr earned his 2,500th career win aboard Valuable Lady in the eighth race. The 43-year-old from
“It means I’ve been productive”, said Carr. “I have people behind me giving me good horses to ride.”
Carr has been riding since 1986 and notched his first victory in 1987 at Aqueduct aboard Crobosity. He later moved out to the west coast where he registered the majority of his triumphs. He had a streak of five consecutive wins on a single card while riding at Golden Gate Fields.
The veteran journeyman has earned a lifetime total of 91 stakes victories including wins in 17 Graded stakes.
He joined the local jockey colony in 2008 and finished his first season at

The opening day card concluded with trainer Jeremiah Englehart and jockey Wilfredo Rohena teaming up to win the ninth race with Phantom F Four. The victory was the fifth of the day for the connections.
The horses that won for the duo scored by an average margin of four lengths. Phantom F Four demolished his rivals by nine and one-quarter lengths.
The accomplishment of five victories by a trainer with the same rider on a
card was unprecedented before Friday. Englehart and Rohena will attempt to keep the hot streak going with horses entered in both the first and fifth races on Saturday.
