FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Officials at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack have canceled the live racing card for Tuesday, May 8.
The extended winter weather throughout April caused a delay in training of many local horses. The reduced training days resulted in a smaller amount of available race ready horses to compete in the early part of the meet.
The decision to cancel Tuesday’s card also helps maintain horse field size for the remaining days on the upcoming schedule. The quantity of horses performing morning exercises continues to increase with the recent warmer temperatures in Western New York.
No other changes were made at this time to the 2018 live racing calendar.
Finger Lakes will offer a live card on Saturday to coincide with all the action from Churchill Downs including the Kentucky Derby. Beginning at 10:00 am, the first 1,000 Lucky North Members to check in will receive a commemorative Kentucky Derby glass. Also members can receive an entry for a chance to win a stack of betting vouchers. There will be a special $27.95 buffet with live tellers, a cash bar and $10 free play. First race post time is scheduled for 1:10 pm. and the racing gates open on Saturday at 10:00 am.
