Trainer Linda Dixon earns first career stakes win
FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Rip Loves Maize was a surprise winner of the $50,000 Shesastonecoldfox Stakes at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack (FLGR) on Monday. The 12-1 longshot edged by Gonna Be Morgan in the six furlong dash for 2-year-old New York-bred fillies to score the narrow victory.

Trainer Linda Dixon earned her first career stakes win in the Monday Feature. The victory was achieved the first time a horse from her barn was entered in a stake.

"We love this filly and we are thrilled", Said Dixon. "She has a lot of heart."

Rip Loves Maize was guided to the head triumph by Dean Frates. She completed the eighth race in a final six furlong time of 1:13.56.

The chestnut filly owned by Our First Ward Stables registered her second victory in her third career start and paid $26.40, $11.60 and $12.40. Gonna Be Morgan was a close second at odds of 57-1 to return $41.20 and $25.60. A Lovely Rose was third and paid $5.70.
