Same connections with the $120,925 Aspirant Stakes and the $121,275 Lady Finger Stakes
FARMINGTON, N.Y. –Langpap Stables achieved a sweep of the New York-bred 2-year-old stakes that were run on Monday at Finger Lakes Casino and Racetrack. The local owners won the $120,925 Aspirant Stakes with Fox Rox and the $121,275 Lady Finger Stakes with Alwaysinstilettos.

Fox Rox was a runaway winner in the 39th renewal of the Aspirant Stakes. The young colt sprinted to a clear early lead and widened her margin on her rivals to score an 18 and one-quarter length triumph. The $90,055 earner covered the six furlong distance of the seventh race for 2-year-old New York-breds in a final time of 1:12.01.

Alwaysinstilettos completed the successful day for Langpap Stables with a victory in the 35th running of the Lady Finger Stakes. The $79,765 earner put away pacesetter Lexi On the Cover and drew away to the eighth race victory by four lengths. She finished the six furlong dash for New York-bred 2-year-old fillies in a time of 1:13.33

“We knew they both had talent”, said Dennis Petrisak of Lanpap Stables. “With babies (2-year-olds) it’s hard to tell what will happen in a race.”

Pedro Rodriguez was aboard both victors for trainer M. Anthony Ferraro. Rodriguez made a total of three visits to the winners circle on Monday. He also took the sixth race with Exley to begin the consecutive race hat trick.

Fox Rox was the post time favorite in the seventh race and paid $4.80 and $2.60. Patriot Star was a distant second and returned $2.60.

Alwaysinstelettos was the second choice at post time of the eighth race and paid $13.20, $7.40 and $2.70. Noon Time Shower was second at odds of 20-1 and returned $9.80 and $4.40. Heavy favorite Irish Sweepstakes never threatened and paid $2.10 for finishing third.

The $120,925 Aspirant Stakes and the $121,275 Lady Finger Stakes are held annually as preparation races for the New York Breeders’ Futurity. The Futurity is a six furlong sprint for New York-bred 2-year-olds that carries an estimated purse of $200,000. The rich event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 28.
