Promising colt earns two and one-quarter length victory as public choice
FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Sundae On Sunday was a popular winner of the $50,000 Ontario County Stakes at Finger Lakes Casino and Racetrack on Saturday. The 3-4 post time favorite won the 28th renewal of the dash for New York-bred 3-year-olds by a margin of two and one-quarter lengths.

The Michael S. Ferraro-trainee was rated off the early pace by jockey Dennis Carr and rallied in the stretch to secure his first career stake win. Carr completed a hat trick of the Saturday card with the victory. The veteran jockey won the fourth and seventh race prior to the stakes race triumph.

Sundae On Sunday completed the six furlong sprint in a final time of 1:12.18. The $54,680 earner owned by Jeffrey Tucker and Very Un Stable registered his third victory in his fifth lifetime start and paid $3.50, $3.00 and $2.40. El Grande Patron was second and returned $5.00 and $3.90. Bruce’s Choice was third and paid $4.90.

The $50,000 Niagara Stakes is the next stake scheduled to be run at Finger Lakes Casino and Racetrack. The annual event is part of the festivities planned for Independence Day.

Dogs, Sodas, and Racing Programs will be sold for $1.00 each at the Clubhouse entrance. There will be a bounce house for children as well as entertainment provided by Flyin’ Brian and Miss Understood. Local jockeys will be available for autographs and will participate in a charity footrace. Post time for the first race on Wednesday, July 4 is set at 1:10 p.m.
